Register to audition for the NWA Youth Jazz Ensemble!
No cost to register or audition. If accepted to the 12-week program, tuition is $250. (Financial aid may be available.)
WHAT:
- The NWA Youth Jazz Ensemble is a seventeen piece jazz big band composed of high school students from the NW Arkansas Region.
WHO:
- Student applicants (grades 9-12) are selected by audition. At least two years of experience is preferred. However, exceptions may be made based on skill and proficiency. Instrumentation for the All-Stars includes saxophone (alto, tenor, and baritone), trumpet, trombone, guitar, piano, bass, and drums.
WHEN:
- Auditions are held on February 1st and 2nd at Walton Arts Center.
- Rehearsals are weekly on Sundays over a three month period beginning in February 2020.
WHERE:
- Rehearsals are held at Crisp Recording Studios in Fayetteville.
- The program culminates with a concert performance in Starr Theater at Walton Arts Center in May 2020.
Audition Instructions:
Applicants will take part in an audition to demonstrate their playing ability, knowledge of jazz music, music theory, and sight-reading abilities.
